CONFIDENCE Post 1: Confidence Defeats FEAR - Defined

CONFIDENCE is generally described as the belief in the powers, trustworthiness or reliability of a person.

CONFIDENCE is a state of being certain either that a hypothesis or chosen course of action is the best or most effective.

SELF CONFIDENCE is the belief in oneself and one's powers and/or abilities.

Being SELF CONFIDENT in one skill does not necessarily mean being SELF CONFIDENT in other skills.

'If you have no Confidence in self you are twice defeated.  With Confidence you win before you have even started.'
Marcus Tullius Cicero, Roman Lawyer and Scholar

'The way to develop self confidence is to do the thing you fear and get a record of successful experiences behind you.'
American Lawyer, Politician and Orator

FEAR Post 7: The Cause of Failure is FEAR

FEAR of speaking in open forums.
FEAR of selling products and opportunities.
FEAR of sounding foolish or stupid.
FEAR of not being able to respond to objections.
FEAR of rejection and criticism by others.
FEAR of not knowing the scope of their duties.
FEAR of receiving poor leadership.
FEAR of failing NOW and not knowing WHY they have failed previously.
FEAR of FEAR itself.

FEAR blocks our thinking, perception, psyche and motivation.
FEAR can affect anyone including salespersons, teachers, students, business people and professionals.

FEAR Post 6 Psycho-Cybernetics: Concepts

'Your brain and nervous system constitute a goal-striving mechanism that operates automatically to achieve a certain goal.'

'Your built-in servo-mechanism functions both as a guidance system to automatically steer you in the right direction to achieve certain goals, or to make correct responses to the environment.'

'And also as an electronic brain which can function automatically to solve problems, give you needed answers, and provide new ideas and inspirations.'

Maxwell Maltz, MD, FICS, Author of Psycho-Cybernetics 1960, 2000 revised

FEAR Post 5 Psycho-Cybernetics: The Subconscious Mind

'The stage fright experienced by people called upon to speak is, according to many surveys, one of the top three or four fears shared by adults.  It can be
paralyzing.'  Maxwell Maltz, M.D., F.I.C.S., Author Psycho-Cybernetics, 1960

This quote started me on the path of understanding the power of the Subconscious Mind (SM) and how it has affected me.  Then I was able to learn how to put my SM to work for me.

First read by me in the early 1960's, it showed me that the SM accounts for 96% of everything we do.

The SM is imprinted by the Conscious Mind (CM) - both good and bad - with what you want to manifest for yourself.

The SM can't tell the difference between actual events or events created solely by the CM.

The CM supplies Goals and Directions.  The SM supplies Means and Solutions.  After that the SM runs on autopilot by itself.

The CM operates at 2,000 synapses/second.  The SM operates at 4,000,000 synapses/second.

The SM never sleeps.  The CM does.

FEAR Post 4 Dr. Maxwell Maltz - Psycho-Cybernetics

My education into the dynamics of the causes of fear began when I read this book in 1964. Let me quote Dr Maltz: 'The stage fright experienced by people called upon to to speak is, according to many surveys, one of the top three or four fears shared by adults. It can be paralyzing.'

It opened my mind into the power of our subconscious minds which provides the basis of understanding how it had affected me.

FEAR Post 3 - 'Be Fearless'

This video 'Be Fearless' is as good a place to start my positioning of FEAR. There will be many other posts on the subject of FEAR. Unfortunately it doesn't tell you HOW to become 'Fearless'. But I will.

FEAR Post 2 - My Journey

In the spring of 1955 as a sophomore at Central Catholic HS in Toledo, OH, I was a candidate for Junior Boys Representative to Student Senate.  The election was to be made by the Sophomore Class Officers and Class Council.  Along with others I had to make a three minute presentation.  I must have been persuasive because I won the election.
However, to this day I don't know what I said.  I froze.  I panicked.  I choked.  I vowed never to let that happen again.  And I didn't. There began a 60 year quest...and over a thousand presentations...that became ThePowerOrator.

This blog is my story...my legacy to all those who have suffered the same fate.
